Woznicki stymies Toledo, West Michigan wins 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Samuel Woznicki helped West Michigan defeat Toledo, 4-1.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Toledo faces elimination next time out.

West Michigan\’s penalty kill excelled, as West Michigan gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

West Michigan was led by Devin Farkas, who racked up one goal and one assist. Farkas scored 14:47 into the first period to make the score 2-0 West Michigan. Justin Bloomfield picked up the assist.

West Michigan stifled Toledo\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. West Michigan forced Toledo goalie Glen Bates to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Others who scored for West Michigan included Brett Siewertsen, Dakota Ulmer, and Brendon Block, who scored one goal each. In addition, West Michigan received assists from Davis Hudson, who had one.

Toledo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Toledo\’s offense rang up 36 shots on West Michigan\’s net.

Woznicki rejected 35 shots on goal for West Michigan. West Michigan incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Glen Bates made 35 saves for Toledo on 39 shots. Toledo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
