Drake Deering came up big, stopping 25 of 28 shots throughout the game. The Lansing Wolves took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Brendan Smith.
Bear Ross did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Spencer Sandberg chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Anthony Weinrich had a productive game with 2 assists.
In the first period, Smith opened the scoring for Lansing with a goal at 0:46 with a helper from defenseman Redman. Smith netted a goal at 3:24 with a helper from Daum. Gilbert finally put Toledo on the board with a goal at 18:22 with assists from his linemates, Snyder and Weinrich.
During the third, Perry scored a goal at 1:02 with a helper from Sandberg. Sandberg quickly followed with a goal at 1:23 with an assist from fellow Cherokee forward Weinrich. Ross answered for Lansing with a goal at 4:11 with helpers from his linemates, Sill and Fehlig. Smith scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at 6:31 with an assist from Ross.
The Wolves’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Deering’s big night as he stopped 25 of the 28 shots he faced. Deering’s counterpart, Gonzalez, also had a big night, managing to stop 42 of 46, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Lansing Wolves’ record to (2-4-0-0).
