Lansing Wolves vs Southern Tier Xpress Weekend Recap (10/18/17)


The Lansing Wolves had a great road trip in taking 2 for a weekend sweep from the Southern Tier Xpress based in Jamestown NY. On Saturday the Wolves were led by a trio of forwards. Leading the way was Noah Pipper, scoring a goal and 3 assists.  He had help from Garrett Daum, adding a goal and 3 assists. His line mate Brendan Smith also added a goal and 2 assists. Manning the pipes with a fine 28 save effort was Will Ignatovich. Winning the tilt by a score of 5-2 set the stage for the next day Sunday matinee.

Sunday the Wolves laid into the Express by a 4-0 count. The scoring was balanced as the pistons were definitely on all cylinders. With scoring from a multitude of Wolves of note leading the charge was Daum adding to his fine weekend potting a goal and adding 2 more assists. Pipper also added to his tally by netting another goal and adding an assist. On the defensive end, Sean Finstrom was a rock between the pipes stopping all 28 shots thrown his way. With the defensive core stepping up the Wolves were lead by Michael Osinski, and the calming effect of Ryan Weaver.

Head Coach Mark Lawrence stated “This was a real nice trip from which to build on.” The Wolves continue the journey with a single visit to Toledo on Saturday, October 21st at 7:30pm before returning home October 27th at 7:30pm facing the Metro Jets.
